So why video marketing? Well, there’s a number of reasons why I personally love video marketing, but let me share with you a quick story on how I started using video in my business. I started Simple Biz Support back in 2009 in one of the worst economies ever. I had zero clients and I had zero prospects, and yet I knew I needed to communicate with people in order to build visibility online. Google wasn’t going to rank me just because I had a website, and then number two, people weren’t going to believe that I could do the things that I said I could do without explaining why. And typically, you would write a blog. And a written blog, you’d post it and everything’s great, push it out through social media. The problem is, I’m not a very good writer. Writing is not my forte, and I was thinking one day, I’m like, “You know what? I do know how to talk, and I love to explain and I love to educate.” And I thought, “You know what I’m going to do is I’m going to shoot a video.” That’s how video marketing for Simple Biz Support started, was me not being a very good writer, so I shot video.

A couple, gosh… Probably a year after that, my very first client, I was like, “Hey, I need a guinea pig, and I would like you to be a guinea pig. I’ve been using video in my own business for about a year now, been very successful with it, but I feel that other businesses should be using video.” Client said yes they would do it, and the goal was to shoot four videos every single week, that way we had one video dropping on blogs, each Monday we could drop a new blog throughout the month. And so initially, I got the four videos, it was great, post ’em, do my thing. The following month I maybe got a video, maybe two. The following month, I may not have gotten any videos at all, and again, this was a new client. I didn’t have any type of credibility with her around video marketing except for my own personal experience, so it was a little bit tough. I kind of made those phone calls, “Hey, I would love to get some new video.” and every now and then I would get video.

About six months later, I got a call from the client and she goes, “Ryan, every single month you will receive four videos from me.” and I was like, “That is great, that’s what I’ve been waiting for, but what changed?” And what changed was the way people were calling her. And what was really cool, and one of the things I didn’t think about video in the first place, I was looking at it from an SEO tool, how can you create visibility through video on Google? But what she really liked was the conversion, and that is people were calling her and going, “Hey, I saw your video, I liked what you said. I want to schedule an appointment.” And those clients closed much faster than the ones that maybe heard about her from word-of-mouth or some other form of marketing, they took longer to close. And what was really unique about this was that the people that found her through video and watched her catalogue of videos that she had on her website were ready, essentially, to do business with her. All they needed to do was see her in person or talk to her on the phone, and verify that she’s really the same person in the video, she wasn’t acting differently.

That was my “a-ha” moment, and that’s when I said, “All right, I gotta bring video out to all of my clients.” And beyond all that nowadays, besides the visibility, getting ranked on the first page of Google under two hours which is awesome, the credibility is huge. The other thing that I really love about video is the fact that it can be used in all different areas. It doesn’t just go up on YouTube, it gets put on Facebook. It gets converted into a blog post. It gets Tweeted out, we can push it up to other social media accounts. Testimonials are a great way to overcome objections with clients when you actually have a video testimonial of a client, and it also creates great content for your newsletter. There’s a lot of reasons why I love video, but again, the number one reason why I love video and why I think it’s an excellent, affordable tool for small business is that video is the only tool that I’m aware of today that allows you, the business owner, to communicate who you are, your values and your story and why you love what you do. If you are interested, more than happy to do a free 30-minute consultation with you. All you need to do is schedule that call.
