While I understand the desire to use an autoresponder to make social media easier on Twitter, the fact is, it’s social media, you need to be social. Please don’t use an autoresponder.

This is my end basket today and essentially, I’ve got about 20 new email messages that came in today that are all about, “Hey, follow me on this social media account. Hey, Ryan what problems can I answer for you? Hey, make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel. Hey, be sure to check out my website.” These are all self-serving issues. I have two problems with it.

One, I can tell you’re using an autoresponder and your first impression with me is not good.

Number two, you haven’t earned enough trust and credibility with me yet to ask me to check out your YouTube channel or to sign up for your blog, or to do this or that. You need to earn that first, and that’s why I don’t want you to use an autoresponder on your Twitter account.
